(Staten Island Advance/Anthony DePrimo) comments STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- An NYPD sergeantfrom Staten Islandwas arrested for driving while intoxicatedon theLong Island Expressway, authorities allege. At around 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Sgt.Lynda Chervoni, 39, was arrested on the eastbound side of the Long Island Expressway in Roslyn Heights, according to a spokesman for the Nassau County Public Information Office. Chervoni was charged with aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with .08 percent alcohol or more in herblood and driving while intoxicated, said a spokeswoman for the Nassau County district attorney's office. The officer's blood-alcohol readings were not available, the spokeswoman said. All three charges were the officer's first offense, she added. Chervoni,a 15-year veteran of the force, was suspended following her arrest, the NYPD said.
